Donald J. Williams Sr., 63, of Monument-Orviston Road, Beech Creek, died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003 in the Lock Haven Hospital.He was married July 28, 1961 to Ann L. Confer. She survives.
He
was born in Martins Grove, Beech Creek Township, on May 27, 1939, and was a son of the
late James McLian Linn and Lillian M. Martin Williams. Donald was a former welder and
foreman at Warner Company (now Con-Lime), was a licensed non-gas and blasting mine
inspector and served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of the Orviston Bible Church, where he was a Sunday school superintendent
and deacon, and the Howard Area Lions Club.He was also a member of the Lafayette Masonic
Lodge No. 199 of Lock Haven, the Royal Arch Chapter No. 163 of Lock Haven, Hospitaliar
Commandery No. 46, the Clinton CountyShriners and the Jaffa Shriners in Altoona.
He enjoyed acquiring all types of collectables.He is survived by a daughter, Dawn Ann Winters of Blanchard; three sons, Donald J. Williams Jr. of Elizabethtown, Scott D. Williams of York, and James F. Williams of San Francisco; three grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Weaver of Beech Creek and Kathlene Swanson of Zephyrhills, Fla; and a brother, Barry J. Williams of Alaska. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert.The viewing will be Monday, Feb. 10 from 5 until 8 p.m. in the W. Robert Neff Funeral Home, Main Street, Howard with a Howard Lions Club service to follow at 8 p.m. The funeral will be held Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Karl Steele officiating. Burial will take place in the Romola Christian Cemetery in Marsh Creek.Memorials may be sent to the Orviston Bible Church, in care of Rev. Note by Bill Linn 2/8/2003: The obituary did not identify Donald's father as James McLean Linn, (I corrected this). He actually was James' Son and a direct descendant of Andrew Sr. and Martha Linn. His sibling relationships are incorrect also with the exception of Barry J. "Linn" who is identified as Williams also.
